The Bible Society of Singapore (BSS) graciously hosted a transformative Leadership Enhancement Program from May 20 to 23, 2025, welcoming leaders of the Bible Society of India from Central Office and the Auxiliaries. Held in the vibrant city of Singapore, this four-day event brought together mission-driven leaders dedicated to advancing the Bible cause through impactful, innovative, and sustainable approaches.

Through this program, BSS generously shared key insights into its strategic operations, demonstrating a vigorous ministry model that left a deep impression on the participants.

Notable areas of strength that stood out include:

1. Strong Church and Public Relations

BSS has developed solid partnerships with churches, NGOs, government agencies, business entrepreneurs, and individual supporters. This extensive network enables effective resource mobilization for Bible ministry, rooted in trust, transparency, and a shared vision.

2. Scripture Engagement in the Public Square

One of BSS’s standout strategies is its commitment to Scripture engagement at the societal level. By collaborating with government and civic platforms, BSS integrates the Bible into public discourse, addressing national and ethical concerns from a biblical perspective.

3. Holistic Ministry to Migrant Workers

BSS is deeply engaged in ministering to the needs of migrant workers. Through a combination of practical support and Scripture-based care, BSS meets both spiritual and emotional needs, showing compassion and justice in action.

Day Excursion: Exploring the Wonders of Singapore

Gardens by the Bay & Sentosa Island

As a delightful follow-up to the Leadership Enhancement Program, participants enjoyed a refreshing and enriching day excursion to two of Singapore’s most iconic destinations: Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa Island. This well-planned outing provided not only leisure and fellowship but also cultural and ecological enrichment.

Gardens by the Bay – A Celebration of Creation

The visit to Gardens by the Bay was a breathtaking experience. This world-renowned eco-park beautifully showcases the biodiversity of various forests from across the globe. Visitors were captivated by:

• The stunning displays of flora and fauna representing the forest ecosystems of many nations.
• A diverse collection of rare and exotic plant species, brought together under the iconic glass-domed conservatories.
• A strong message of environmental sustainability, seamlessly integrated into the garden’s design and function.

The Gardens offered more than beauty, it is a place of awe and reflection, highlighting the wonder of God’s creation through botanical excellence.

Sentosa Island – History Meets Natural Beauty

The journey continued to the scenic Sentosa Island, a location of both historical and ecological significance. Once a military fortress, Sentosa holds a unique place in the history of Singapore’s struggle for freedom, and today, it stands as a peaceful haven of lush greenery and learning.

Participants explored:

• The island’s rich historical heritage, offering insights into its role during pivotal moments of national defense and liberation.
• Beautiful forest landscapes and seaside views that made the visit both relaxing and inspiring.
• Opportunities for fellowship and informal sharing among leaders in a serene, natural setting.

The excursion served as a perfect balance to leadership sessions, offering rest, inspiration, and a renewed sense of wonder at God’s creation and providential hand in history.

This excursion was not just a sightseeing trip, it was a time of renewal, reflection, and appreciation for God’s work in both nature and nations. A MEANINGFUL ENCOUNTER WITH UBS CHINA PARTNERSHIP

As part of our enriching journey in Singapore, we were privileged to spend meaningful time with the United Bible Societies (UBS) China Partnership team at their Singapore office. This inspiring session highlighted the powerful ways in which God’s Word continues to impact lives in China, even amidst unique social and political contexts.

Mission Focus of the UBS China Partnership

The Singapore-based UBS China Partnership office plays a vital role in advancing the Bible mission within China. With a clear and compassionate mission focus, the team supports:

• Bible translation, publication, and distribution efforts in collaboration with registered Christian bodies in China.
• Strengthening local church networks through Scripture engagement and capacity-building.
• Facilitating long-term partnerships with Chinese Christian organizations to ensure the Bible remains accessible to all who seek it.

Their work exemplifies how mission can thrive through strategic collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and unwavering commitment to Scripture.

The Bible and the Chinese Church: A Testimony Through Time

We were deeply moved by the presentation on the historical journey of the Bible in China. Despite decades of adversity, the Christian community has persevered, and the Word of God has continued to flourish. The session revealed:

• How the Bible has shaped the spiritual heritage of Chinese Christians through the centuries.
• Stories of faith, resilience, and revival among believers during times of suppression and challenge.
• A renewed appreciation for the transformative power of Scripture in the lives of millions.

This historical narrative served as a powerful reminder of how God’s Word transcends borders, languages, and even political systems.

God’s Amazing Work in China Today

One of the most remarkable testimonies shared during the visit was the growth of religious freedom within China—particularly in the context of Bible publication and worship. Key highlights included:

• The legally sanctioned printing and distribution of Bibles through the Amity Printing Press, the largest Bible printer in the world.
• The active ministry of Registered Churches and Christian organizations, which continue to lead Scripture engagement across the nation.
• The visible hand of God at work—opening doors for worship, discipleship, and public Scripture access even within a Communist framework.

These developments reflect a profound work of God in China, where, despite restrictions, the Bible continues to bring hope, light, and truth.

Our time with the UBS China Partnership team was deeply encouraging. It was a reminder of how God’s mission is alive and active—even in the most unexpected places. We left inspired by their commitment, grateful for the progress in China, and renewed in our own calling to share the Word of God across every context.

EQUIPPING LEADERS FOR GOD’S MISSION IN TODAY’S WORLD: THE BIBLICAL MANDATE

In an era of shifting ideologies, moral relativism, and global instability, the Church stands at a crossroads. The demands of leadership have never been greater, and yet the biblical call to raise and release leaders remains as urgent and clear as ever. “Equipping leaders for God’s mission” is not a suggestion for the Church, it is a divine commission. It is rooted in Scripture, modelled throughout redemptive history, and essential for the advancement of God’s kingdom in every generation.

The Urgency of the Hour

The world today is marked by profound upheaval, such as technological acceleration, political polarization, wars and rumors of wars, and an overwhelming sense of spiritual disorientation. The rise of secularism in the West, persecution in parts of the Global South, and the rapid growth of urbanization globally all point to one truth: the mission field has changed, and so must our approach to leadership development. The Church must not retreat into nostalgia or remain static in outdated models. Instead, we must respond with intentionality and boldness, raising leaders who are deeply rooted in biblical truth, spiritually mature, culturally and technologically competent. The task is not merely to fill pulpits, but to form pioneers, shepherds, prophets, and servant-leaders who can navigate complexity and remain faithful to Christ in all spheres of society.

A Mandate Rooted in Scripture

The biblical mandate for equipping leaders is clear and compelling. In Matthew 28:18–20, Jesus gives His followers a global mission: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” This command assumes leadership, those who are sent must also be prepared, trained, and sent with authority. Discipleship is not optional. It is the very heartbeat of the Church’s mission.

Ephesians 4:11–12 reinforces this calling: “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” Leadership is not about titles or status; it is about empowerment. God gives leaders to the Church not to do all the work, but to equip others for the work of ministry, mobilizing the whole body to function in maturity, unity, and purpose.

This biblical pattern is consistently seen throughout Scripture. Moses raised Joshua with intentional guidance. Elijah mentored Elisha with vision and passion. Jesus spent three years forming twelve disciples who would carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. Paul poured the spirit of leadership into Timothy and Titus, urging them to entrust what they had learned to “faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). This is not merely a strategy, it is a Spirit-ordained process of multiplication and generational impact.

A Contextual Call to Today’s Church

Yet while the mandate has not changed, the context certainly has. Today’s leaders are navigating a world where moral boundaries are blurred, truth is relativized, and faith is often marginalized. They are called to be both pastoral and prophetic, courageous yet compassionate, deeply theological and highly practical.

The equipping of leaders today must therefore be holistic. It must integrate:

1. Biblical and Theological Depth: Leaders must know the Word of God and handle it rightly amid widespread biblical illiteracy.

2. Character and Integrity: Talent may open doors, but only integrity keeps leaders standing. Spiritual formation must be central.

3. Cultural Intelligence: Leaders must discern the times and speak gospel truth into complex and diverse environments.

4. Missional Vision: Leadership must extend beyond the pulpit into neighborhoods, cities, nations, and digital spaces.

5. Emotional and Relational Health: In an age of burnout, anxiety, and disconnection, healthy leaders are needed now more than ever.

This kind of formation cannot happen in classrooms alone. It requires mentoring relationships, Spirit-led discipleship, exposer and real-life ministry experience. Equipping leaders is not a program, it is a sacred process, carried out in community, under the authority of Scripture, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Strategic Role of the Church

Local churches, theological institutions, mission agencies, and Christian movements each have a vital role to play in this task, more so by the Bible Societies. Churches must become intentional incubators for leadership development, identifying, discipling, and releasing emerging leaders from every generation. Seminaries must blend academic rigor with spiritual formation and practical experience. Mission agencies must deploy leaders who are both culturally agile and theologically grounded. Every generation is responsible for raising the next. This is not optional, it is essential. The health of tomorrow’s Church depends on what we do today.

Conclusion: A Holy Assignment

To equip leaders for God’s mission is to say yes to a holy assignment, one that echoes through eternity. It is a response to the unchanging call of Jesus Christ, who still declares, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37–38). This is our calling. This is our mandate. Let us equip with sincerity, pray with expectancy, and lead with boldness, all for the glory of God and for the Bible cause.

LOGOS Bible Quiz Inspires Young Minds at Mount Carmel School, New Delhi
Over 300 Attend Annual Scripture-Based Competition Celebrating Faith and Knowledge

New Delhi, May 8, 2025: It was on a bright Thursday morning, as they stepped onto the vibrant campus of Mount Carmel School, Anand Niketan, New Delhi, the air was filled with energy and expectation as students from across Delhi gathered for an event that had, over the years, become a spiritual landmark: the LOGOS Bible Quiz. Rev. Gershombhai Khristi, Auxiliary Secretary, expressed that it was a great honor to be invited as the Chief Guest for the grand occasion, a first for the Bible Society of India, North West India Auxiliary. They were welcomed by the joyful sounds of children preparing for the stage round, teachers making final adjustments to the arrangements, and banners displaying the timeless words of Scripture. It had been evident that this was more than an academic event; it was a celebration of the living Word of God.

‘LOGOS’, organized annually by the school’s Value Education Department, brought together young minds from Christian schools across Delhi to engage in thoughtful and meaningful study of the Bible. This year, the quiz had focused on the books of Ruth, Micah, and 1 and 2 Timothy. He had remarked that the methodology and standard of the competition were of exceptional quality. As the quiz began, the auxiliary Secretary found himself completely overwhelmed by the participants — children who answered complex questions with clarity and confidence, quoting Scripture not merely as a memorized exercise but as a truth they genuinely believed. It had been clear to them that the Word had taken root in these young hearts.

Over 300 people — students, teachers, parents, and guests had witnessed this joyful expression of faith. The Auxiliary Secretary had the opportunity to share a few words, encouraging the students to continue walking in the light of the Word and reminding them that the Bible was not just a book to be studied, but a guide to be lived. After the event, Rev. Gershombhai sat down with the Principal and Vice Principal of the school. Their conversation turned toward the future, as they explored the possibility of building a partnership between Mount Carmel School and the Bible Society of India. They discussed ways of journeying together to make the Bible more accessible and engaging for students. There had been mutual excitement about the possibilities — Bible storytelling sessions, Scripture-based seminars, and youth engagement projects that could be carried out jointly in the coming months.

The Secretary, felt that the visit had meant more than just attending as a guest; it was like a divine appointment. Witnessing young hearts embrace God’s Word, seeing a school community rooted in Scripture, and representing the Bible Society of India in that sacred space had been a deeply humbling experience. As they walked out the school gates, their hearts were full. The seeds of Scripture had not only been sown but they were growing, blooming, and bearing fruit. They felt reassured once more that the ministry they served was not in vain, for God’s Word was indeed alive, and the children were living proof of that truth.

Electronic Board for Scripture Engagement in a Public Square:

The Electronic Board is used to display Bible verses in public spaces, sharing Scripture through specialized software or apps. This helps make God’s Word accessible and visible in our daily lives. This is one of the most important instruments in fulfilling our BSI mandate of Scripture Engagement in a Public Square.

Spiritual Impact: By displaying Scripture, the board offers spiritual encouragement and guidance to the public. It reflects the Christian mission of providing both spiritual and practical support, helping individuals deepen their personal walk with God. In a fast-changing world, technology can serve as a powerful tool to spread the unchanging truth of the Bible.

Vision and Provision: Rev. Gershombhai Khristi, Auxiliary Secretary of BSI, NWIA, envisioned installing an Electronic Board on the NWIA campus. He shared this desire with donors, and Mrs. E. Daniel, a member of the Mary Jones Women Fellowship, generously responded through her cousin, Mr. A. L. S. Daniels in Australia. Through his sponsorship, the board was installed and is now actively sharing Bible verses with the public to read whoever passes by our Bible House in 10 Parliament Street in New Delhi. We thank God for His perfect timing in providing this means of ministering to those in need.

CHURCH RELATIONS AND SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT – STORIES OF AUXILIARIES

KERALA AUXILIARY

Audio Bible Distribution Program

Mr. Caleb Martin Hilton, Associate Director of the Media, Communication, and IT Department of the Bible Society of India, visited the Kerala Auxiliary on April 25th and 26th, 2025, in connection with the free distribution of Audio Bibles to those in need. The Auxiliary Secretary, accompanied by Marketing Officers, visited several institutions across the region, including:

• Mundakapadam Mandiram, Manganam
• Asraya Old Age Home, Mallapally
• Dharmagiri Mandiram, Kumbanad
• Bethanya Ladies Home, Thiruvalla
• Swasraya Rehabilitation Centre, Mulanthuruthy
• Karunalayam Old Age Home, Piravom
• St. Paul’s Mission of India – Odakkaly Old Age Home
• Blind School, Aluva

The two-day outreach was truly a blessing as we were able to bring the Word of God to individuals facing challenges in reading printed text. We interacted with the wheelchair-bound, the bedridden, and many elderly residents, offering them the comfort and hope of Scripture in an accessible format. The warm reception and deep gratitude expressed by the residents were truly heartening. We were especially honoured by the presence of the Honourable Member of Parliament, Mr. Benny Behanan, who attended the Annual Meeting at the Blind School, Aluva. His gracious participation added immense value to the event and brought encouragement to all present. We express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Benny Behanan and the leaders of the centre for their exceptional coordination and hospitality. Our sincere appreciation goes to the Bible Society of India Media Department and the World Christian Outreach International (WCOI) for their generous support, which made this initiative a resounding success.

Branch Annual Thanksgiving Meeting

The 28th Annual Meeting of the BSI Karunagapally Branch, along with a farewell to outgoing pastors, was held with grace and reverence at Kollaka Mar Thoma Church on April 28th, 2025. The meeting was presided over by the Branch President, Rev. K. Varghese Mathew.Auxiliary Secretary Rev. Jacob Antony Koodathinkal delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the significance of Bible ministry and commending the dedication of pastors and leaders. Marketing Officer Mr. George Philip K. also shared greetings.

The event was attended by clergy, pastors, Regional Coordinator Mr. D. K. Yesudasan, and other distinguished leaders. Outgoing pastors were honoured with mementoes as tokens of appreciation for their exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the ministry.We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated leadership of Rev. K. Varghese Mathew (President), Mr. Varghese John (Secretary), Mr. Thomas P. G. (Treasurer), and other branch leaders for their tireless efforts. Fellowship at St. Andrews CSI Church, Perumbadavom

It was a privilege and joy for the Auxiliary Secretary to attend the worship service at St. Andrews CSI Church, Perumbadavom, on April 27th, 2025. A special meeting was held to honour elderly and visually impaired members of the congregation, during which Audio Bibles were distributed to those in need. This initiative ensured that all could experience the Word of God, regardless of physical limitations. We are deeply thankful for the warm fellowship and the opportunity to serve alongside Rev. John Philip Mullakkal, Reader Shbumon P. M., and the entire congregation. May God continue to bless and strengthen them in all their ministries.

On May 4th, 2025, the Auxiliary Secretary had the blessed opportunity to attend worship at St. John the Baptist CSI Church, Aluva. We express our sincere gratitude to Rev. BSI Kuttanadu Branch One-Day Convention at Salem Mar Thoma Church, Karikuzhy

The BSI Kuttanadu Branch held its one-day convention on May 7th, 2025, at Salem Mar Thoma Church, Karikuzhy. The event was presided over by Rev. Dr. Viji Varghese Eapen, and the inaugural address was delivered by Rt. Rev. Thomas K. Oommen, former CSI Moderator. The Auxiliary Secretary shared the Word of God, and several clergy members offered greetings. A special memento was presented to Rev. Dr. Viji Varghese Eapen in recognition of his outstanding leadership as Branch President, as he prepares to take charge at a new parish. We sincerely thank the dedicated officials of the Kuttanadu Branch—especially Rev. Dr. Viji Varghese (President), Pastor Babu Thalavady (Vice-President), Mr. Thomaskutty (Secretary), and others—for their commitment and excellent organisation of this blessed event. MOTHER’S DAY: A BIBLICAL REFLECTION

Luke 1:26–38

Mother’s Day is a time to honor and celebrate the immeasurable love, sacrifice, and strength of mothers. For Christians, this day can also be a meaningful occasion to reflect on the biblical model of motherhood, especially through the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary holds a unique and powerful place in Scripture, not only as the earthly mother of Christ but also as a symbol of faith, endurance, resistance, resilience, obedience, and grace that continues to inspire the Christian world today. The Gregorian Calendar May is a month, the Catholic Church across the world is celebrating what is called Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan.

In the Philippines, where majority of Christians belong to Catholic Church, May is marked by the vibrant and festive “Flores de Mayo” (Flowers of May), a month-long celebration honoring the Virgin Mary. During Flores de Mayo, flowers are offered daily at churches, a symbol of devotion and purity. The tradition not only reflects the Filipinos’ deep Marian devotion but also celebrates the end of the dry season, intertwining religious observance with seasonal change.

The culmination of Flores de Mayo is the “Santacruzan,” a religious-historical procession held on the last day of the month. This event reenacts the search of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena (Reyna Elena) and her son, the newly converted emperor Constantine. During the procession, which is a major event in many communities, young women and men participate in a parade dressed as biblical characters and saints, with the most anticipated being the representation of Reyna Elena. The Santacruzan serves as both a catechetical tool and a cultural spectacle, showcasing elaborate dresses and creative floats.

Mary’s Role in the Life of Jesus:

Mary’s journey as a mother begins with one of the most profound moments in the Bible: the Annunciation. When the angel Gabriel appeared to her and told her that she would bear the Son of God (Luke 1:26–38), her humble response, “I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled”, marked her as a woman of deep faith and submission to God’s will. This moment sets the tone for Mary’s entire life as a mother: trusting, obedient, and committed.

As Jesus grew, Mary was not a distant or symbolic figure, she was fully involved in Jesus’ upbringing. In Luke 2:19, after the shepherds visited baby Jesus, Scripture says, “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” This shows a mother deeply reflective and spiritually attuned to the divine nature of her son.

Mary was present in key moments of Jesus’ life and ministry. At the wedding in Cana (John 2:1–11), it was Mary who brought the problem of the lack of wine to Jesus, leading to His first public miracle. She was also there during the most painful time in His life, on the way to Cross, and at the cross till his death (John 19:25–27). Her presence in that moment of suffering highlights her unwavering devotion and love as a mother, even in the face of unimaginable pain.

Mary’s Enduring Role in the Christian Faith

Mary’s significance extends beyond her role as a mother in the earthly life of Jesus. In Christian tradition, she has come to symbolize the ideal of faithful discipleship. Her life was marked by surrender to God’s plan, humility, and deep spiritual insight. In many Christian denominations, especially in Catholic and Orthodox traditions, she is honored as the Mother of the Church, interceding for believers and providing a model of grace and virtue.

Even in Acts 1:14, after Jesus’ ascension, we see Mary gathered with the disciples in prayer, awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit. This shows her as a foundational presence in the early Christian community, a woman of prayer and faith, united with the Church in its mission.

Mary, the Role Model for Parents

Mary’s life offers timeless lessons for all parents and believers:

• Faith in Uncertainty: Mary accepted God’s will even when she didn’t fully understand it, teaching us to trust God in every season of life.
• Strength in Sacrifice: Her journey was filled with hardship, from giving birth in a stable to witnessing her Son’s crucifixion, yet she remained faithful.
• Presence and Love: Mary’s consistent presence in Jesus’ life reminds us of the irreplaceable role of a loving, supportive mother for every parent and caregiver to every child.

The Goal Achieved Through Mary: A Divine Symphony of Salvation: In the fullness of time, God chose Mary, not merely as a vessel, but as a consecrated temple, through whom the Eternal Word would take flesh. In her humble fiat, the infinite stooped into the finite; the Creator entered creation, not in splendor, but in silence, through the womb of a virgin. Through Mary, the long-awaited plan of salvation was set ablaze: Christ, the Son of the Living God, clothed Himself in our humanity to redeem the fallen and restore what was lost in Eden.

This mystery is not confined to a distant past. It echoes through the ages and calls to us even now. Just as Mary opened herself wholly to God’s will, so too are we invited to surrender to become living tabernacles, instruments of His mercy in a broken world. Though Christ will not be born again in the flesh, He longs to be born anew in our hearts, to take shape in our words, our actions, our lives. In a world groaning under the weight of injustice and sin, we are called to make room for the Incarnation again, not in Bethlehem, but within ourselves. Through our surrender, the captive may yet find freedom, the wounded may yet find healing, and the darkness may still give way to light. As Mary bore the Light of the World in her womb, so we are called to bear Him in our lives, that through us, redemption may continue to touch the earth. AMEN!

Audio Bible Distribution Program

Mr. Caleb Martin Hilton, Associate Director of the Media, Communication, and IT Department of the Bible Society of India, visited the Kerala Auxiliary on April 25th and 26th, 2025, in connection with the free distribution of Audio Bibles to those in need. The Auxiliary Secretary, accompanied by Marketing Officers, visited several institutions across the region, including:

The two-day outreach was truly a blessing as we were able to bring the Word of God to individuals facing challenges in reading printed text. We interacted with the wheelchair-bound, the bedridden, and many elderly residents, offering them the comfort and hope of Scripture in an accessible format. The warm reception and deep gratitude expressed by the residents were truly heartening. We were especially honoured by the presence of the Honourable Member of Parliament, Mr. Benny Behanan, who attended the Annual Meeting at the Blind School, Aluva. His gracious participation added immense value to the event and brought encouragement to all present. We express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Benny Behanan and the leaders of the centre for their exceptional coordination and hospitality. Our sincere appreciation goes to the Bible Society of India Media Department and the World Christian Outreach International (WCOI) for their generous support, which made this initiative a resounding success.

Branch Annual Thanksgiving Meeting

The 28th Annual Meeting of the BSI Karunagapally Branch, along with a farewell to outgoing pastors, was held with grace and reverence at Kollaka Mar Thoma Church on April 28th, 2025. The meeting was presided over by the Branch President, Rev. K. Varghese Mathew.Auxiliary Secretary Rev. Jacob Antony Koodathinkal delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the significance of Bible ministry and commending the dedication of pastors and leaders. LOGOS Bible Quiz Inspires Young Minds at Mount Carmel School, New Delhi
Over 300 Attend Annual Scripture-Based Competition Celebrating Faith and Knowledge

New Delhi, May 8, 2025: It was on a bright Thursday morning, as they stepped onto the vibrant campus of Mount Carmel School, Anand Niketan, New Delhi, the air was filled with energy and expectation as students from across Delhi gathered for an event that had, over the years, become a spiritual landmark: the LOGOS Bible Quiz. Rev. Gershombhai Khristi, Auxiliary Secretary, expressed that it was a great honor to be invited as the Chief Guest for the grand occasion, a first for the Bible Society of India, North West India Auxiliary. They were welcomed by the joyful sounds of children preparing for the stage round, teachers making final adjustments to the arrangements, and banners displaying the timeless words of Scripture. It had been evident that this was more than an academic event; it was a celebration of the living Word of God.

‘LOGOS’, organized annually by the school’s Value Education Department, brought together young minds from Christian schools across Delhi to engage in thoughtful and meaningful study of the Bible. This year, the quiz had focused on the books of Ruth, Micah, and 1 and 2 Timothy. He had remarked that the methodology and standard of the competition were of exceptional quality. As the quiz began, the auxiliary Secretary found himself completely overwhelmed by the participants — children who answered complex questions with clarity and confidence, quoting Scripture not merely as a memorized exercise but as a truth they genuinely believed. It had been clear to them that the Word had taken root in these young hearts.

Over 300 people — students, teachers, parents, and guests had witnessed this joyful expression of faith. The Auxiliary Secretary had the opportunity to share a few words, encouraging the students to continue walking in the light of the Word and reminding them that the Bible was not just a book to be studied, but a guide to be lived. After the event, Rev. Gershombhai sat down with the Principal and Vice Principal of the school. Their conversation turned toward the future, as they explored the possibility of building a partnership between Mount Carmel School and the Bible Society of India. They discussed ways of journeying together to make the Bible more accessible and engaging for students. There had been mutual excitement about the possibilities — Bible storytelling sessions, Scripture-based seminars, and youth engagement projects that could be carried out jointly in the coming months.

The Secretary, felt that the visit had meant more than just attending as a guest; it was like a divine appointment. Witnessing young hearts embrace God’s Word, seeing a school community rooted in Scripture, and representing the Bible Society of India in that sacred space had been a deeply humbling experience. As they walked out the school gates, their hearts were full. The seeds of Scripture had not only been sown but they were growing, blooming, and bearing fruit. They felt reassured once more that the ministry they served was not in vain, for God’s Word was indeed alive, and the children were living proof of that truth.

Electronic Board for Scripture Engagement in a Public Square:

The Electronic Board is used to display Bible verses in public spaces, sharing Scripture through specialized software or apps. This helps make God’s Word accessible and visible in our daily lives. This is one of the most important instruments in fulfilling our BSI mandate of Scripture Engagement in a Public Square.

Spiritual Impact: By displaying Scripture, the board offers spiritual encouragement and guidance to the public. It reflects the Christian mission of providing both spiritual and practical support, helping individuals deepen their personal walk with God. In a fast-changing world, technology can serve as a powerful tool to spread the unchanging truth of the Bible.

Vision and Provision: Rev. Gershombhai Khristi, Auxiliary Secretary of BSI, NWIA, envisioned installing an Electronic Board on the NWIA campus. He shared this desire with donors, and Mrs. E. Daniel, a member of the Mary Jones Women Fellowship, generously responded through her cousin, Mr. A. L. S. Daniels in Australia. Through his sponsorship, the board was installed and is now actively sharing Bible verses with the public to read whoever passes by our Bible House in 10 Parliament Street in New Delhi. We thank God for His perfect timing in providing this means of ministering to those in need.

A TESTIMONY OF A BLIND MAN NAMED MR. HEREN HEMROM

God’s love knows no limits, and His Word is for everyone, regardless of ability. Through the faithful efforts of the Bible Society of India, this truth is becoming a reality for many, including Mr. Heren Hemrom.

On the morning of 8th April 2025, Mr. Heren Hemrom, a visually impaired man from Latakel village in the Simdega District of Jharkhand, visited our BSI Ranchi Auxiliary Office. During his visit, we had the joy of presenting him with Braille copies of the books of Revelation and Leviticus. In the days that followed, we continued to supply him with more Scripture: on 16th April, he received the books from Matthew to Galatians, Philemon, Hebrews to Jude, and another copy of Revelation; and on 25th April, he was provided with the books from Genesis to Daniel.

Mr. Hemrom’s life story is deeply moving. At a very young age, he was brought by the police to St. Michael’s Blind School in Bahubazar, Ranchi, where he grew up and continues to live even now. Officially, he is 65 years old now. Since 2019, he has been receiving portions of the Braille Bible through BSI Ranchi Auxiliary, a resource that has fueled his passion for ministry among other visually impaired people. His method of sharing the Gospel is simple yet powerful. In new places, he first reads and tells stories from the Braille Bible. When individuals come to faith in Christ, he organizes Bible study groups to nurture and disciple them. He also faithfully prays for those who are physically, emotionally, and spiritually struggling.

When asked how he supports himself, Mr. Hemrom humbly shared that God provides through the generosity of people who offer him food, help with his travel expenses, and support his ministry work. Through Mr. Hemrom’s unwavering faith and tireless service, the love and power of God are touching lives in Chaibasa town and Kolebira village in Jharkhand.

A two-day Bible Exhibition and Sale, along with Bible Sunday celebrations, was held at Ambernath Methodist Church from April 26 to 27, 2025. Rev. Clement Christian, Bombay Auxiliary Secretary, preached the Word during the three services for the Telugu, Marathi, and Kannada congregations. The Auxiliary secretary profoundly thanks Rev. Noble Mathew Achen, the Pastor, the committee members, and the congregation for their wonderful support.

Trivandrum:

On 16th March 2025, Bible Sunday was observed, and special offerings were received from Wills Memorial CSI Church, Mangad, Thirumala, Trivandrum, . We are grateful to the Vicar, Rev. Israel Thomas; the Assistant Vicar, Rev. Rajeev John; Mr. J. Mohan Kumar, Church Secretary and BSI Thirumala Branch Secretary and the entire congregation for their strong support of the Bible cause. We deeply appreciate the coordination and sacrificial service of the Regional Coordinator, Chev. Dr. Koshy M. George.

Idukki:

Bible Sunday was observed, Bibles were distributed to students, a door-to-door collection was conducted, and special offerings were received at St. Mathias CSI Church, Chemmannar, on 30th March 2025. We thank Mr. G. Ebenezer, the church worker, along with the committee members and the entire congregation, for their wholehearted support of the Bible cause. Special thanks to Mr. Georgekutty and Mrs. Jessy Georgekutty from Thodupuzha for sponsoring 23 ESV Bibles for deserving students.

Ernakulam:

Rev Jacob Antony Koodathinkal, Kerala Axuliary Secretary shared God’s Word at St. Stephen’s CSI Church, Tripunithura, observing both Bible Sunday and VBS Sunday on 6th April 2025. It was a blessed time of fellowship with Rev. Rejil C. Babu, Vicar and Vice President of the Thiruvankulam Branch, the congregation, and the VBS students. We appreciate the coordination and presence of Er. John Minu Mathew (Auxiliary Committee Member), Er. Suja Anie Mathew (Central Council Member), Mr. Abin Kurian (Branch Joint Secretary), and other leaders of the Thiruvankulam Branch. On the same Sunday, we also had the opportunity to visit Immanuel Mar Thoma Church, Thiruvankulam, and appreciate the outstanding leadership of the outgoing Branch President, Rev. Minoy N. Kuruvilla. Thrissur:

Rev Jacob Antony Koodathinkal, Kerala Axuliary Secretary shared God’s Word at the ‘Bless Chalakudy All Pentecostal Denomination Convention’ on 23rd April 2025, and the staff conducted a Bible exhibition and sale. It was a blessed occasion. We appreciate the outstanding coordination by Mr. C.C. Paulson (Chalakudy Branch Secretary), Pastor Johnson N.D. (Branch Treasurer and Convention General Convenor), all the pastors, and the members for their tremendous support.

BRANCH ANNUAL THANKSGIVING MEETINGS

Kannur:

The BSI Kannur Branch Annual Meeting and Thanksgiving Service was held at AG Church, Kannur, on 7th March 2025. Rev. Shiju Varkey presided over the meeting, the Auxiliary Secretary delivered the keynote address, and Pr. K.U. Peter (AG Malabar District Council Secretary) offered his felicitations. Clergy, pastors, and members from various churches graced the occasion. New office bearers and committee members were elected. We highly appreciate the excellent coordination by Mr. S. Bhuvanesan, Branch Secretary, which contributed to the successful functioning of the meeting.

Kasargode:

The BSI Kasargode Branch Annual Meeting and Thanksgiving Service took place at Mar Thoma College, Badiyadka, Kasargode, on 8th March 2025. Rev. Mathew Baby presided over the meeting, and the Auxiliary Secretary gave the keynote address. Rev. Aneesh Thomas, Rev. George Varghese, Pr. Mohan David (Regional Coordinator), and pastors from different churches also attended. Members from various churches participated, and new office bearers and committee members were elected. We are grateful for the effective coordination by Pr. Roji K. Varghese, Branch Secretary, which ensured the success of the meeting.

OVERSEAS VISITORS: Friends from the Bible Society of Northern Ireland

Mr. Robin Tweed and Mrs. Janet Tweed, active leaders and long-time supporters of the Bible Society of Northern Ireland, visited the BSI Kerala Auxiliary on 8th April 2025, bringing greetings from Mr. Wilson Beare, Chief Executive Officer of the Bible Society of Northern Ireland. They have had a longstanding association with the United Bible Societies. Their visit to our Auxiliary was truly meaningful. During a special Staff Meeting held at Bible House, Kottayam, Dr. Sabu T. Thomas, our Auxiliary Treasurer, honored them with a shawl, and the Auxiliary Secretary presented a special gift on behalf of the Auxiliary. We deeply value their love, time, concern, and efforts in visiting the Kerala Auxiliary. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the General Secretary of the Bible Society of India, Rev. Dr. Kavito G. Zhimo, for his continued guidance. May God bless Mr. and Mrs. Tweed and their ministry as they work to spread the unchanging Word around the world.

DIMAPUR AUXILIARY CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY

The Bible Society of India (BSI), Dimapur Auxiliary joyfully celebrated its 40th Anniversary on the 12th and 13th of April 2025 at the Dimapur Rengma Baptist Church, Khermahal, Dimapur. The event was attended by Auxiliary Committee Members, Branch Office Bearers, various committee members, and local church congregants, all joining in thanksgiving and celebration.

The commemoration began on 12th April with an inspiring sermon delivered by Rev. L. Timothy Phaomei, President of the BSI Imphal Branch. He delivered a powerful message that challenged the congregation to actively engage in the ministry of the Bible Society, emphasizing that the ministry revolves around the living Word of God—Jesus Christ Himself. The service was uplifted by a special song presented by the New Life Bible College Choir, glorifying the living God. The main celebration was held on 13th April. Rev. Dr. Z. K. Rochill, former Senior Auxiliary Secretary, delivered a heartfelt and encouraging message. He reflected on the early struggles of the Dimapur Auxiliary but praised God for its steady growth and increasing impact in sharing the living Word of God with unreached communities. Special music was presented by the Chakhesang Baptist Church Youth of Dimapur and the Hallelujah Chorus from the Dimapur Rengma Baptist Church, Khermahal, accompanied by the Nagaland Orchestra Team. A special offering was collected by the host church in support of the New Bible House construction. The celebration was truly blessed and filled with gratitude. We trust that God will continue to use the Bible Society of India to advance God’s Kingdom and reach many more with the Word.
