Rev Dr. M Mani Chacko, is an ordained minister of the Church of South India and has served congregations in Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai, apart from serving as a Priest at the Parish of John Keble Church of the Church of England, London, U.K.
Dr. Chacko is an academician among theologians. After his theological studies at the United Theological College,Bangalore, he earned his PhD in Biblical Studies from King’s College, University of London under the mentorship of Professor Ronald E Clements. Prior to his assuming the Directorship of the Ecumenical Christian Centre, Whitefield, Bangalore in 2006, he served as Principal of the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai. He taught there for 16 long years from 1990 and was Professor and Head of the Department, Old Testament Studies before being appointed as Principal of the college. He also taught at Serampore College, prior to his doctoral studies.
As a Biblical scholar, he was a visiting Professor to several institutions including the Faculty of Theology, University of Oslo, Norway and the United Theological College, Paramatta, Sydney, Australia. Currently, he also serves a number of other organizations in an honorary capacity. To mention a few, he is presently a member of the Executive Board & theAssociation of St. Christopher’s College of Education, Chennai, Women’sChristian College, Chennai,Madras Christian College, Chennai and also Research Ethics Committee, Hindustan Unilever Limited, apart from being an External Examiner for the University of Wales and of the University of Madras. He also served as a Chaplain of the Order of Sisters of the Church of South India.
Rev. Dr. Chacko has been published widely in several academic journals in India and abroad. He also has four books to his credit- LIBERATION AND SERVICE OF GOD; CONTEMPORARY REFLECTIONS ON THE FAITH OF OUR MOTHERS AND FATHERS, THORN TO CYPRESS AND BRIER TO MYRTLE. As an ecumenical thinker, he has addressed conferences and consultations in different forums in India and abroad.
Currently, Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko serves as the General Secretary of the Bible Society of India since August, 2011, the largest Bible Society among the 150 Bible Societies spread over 200 countries around the world and serves on several committees of the United Bible Societies.
Rev. Dr. D. Jonadob Nathaniel joined the BSI in the year 1990 and he is presently the Senior Director (Translations). Prior to joining the BSI, he had served on the staff of EFICOR as Training Officer.
Rev. Dr. Nathaniel holds a B.Sc degree from Madras University, B.D from Union Biblical Seminary, M.Th (NT) from United Theological College and Th.D (NT) from South East Asia Graduate School of Theology, Singapore. He is an ordained person from Lutheran Church. He has also done EMBA from National Institute of Business Management, Chennai.
Mr. E. Ashith a Printing Technologist by profession has been on the staff of BSI since September 1, 1983. He has gained rich experience in the field of printing and production of Bibles through his work in the Production Department over the years.
He was promoted as Senior Director (Production) in the year 2013. Mr. Ashith has undergone the Leadership Development Program organised by the UBS Academy of Leadership & Management - Cohort 4, in Brazil in 2014
Mr. Joel Abraham has been with the BSI from the year 1977 and was promoted as Director (Finance) in 2015.
Mr. Abraham holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce and is qualified in Office/Personnel Management and Computer Basics. He has completed the Leadership Development Program organised by the UBS Academy of Leadership and Management in Brazil from June 2015 - April 2016.
Mr.Paul Stephen is the Director (Publishing & Marketing) since April, 2017. He holds a B.E.(Mechanical) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management.
He has previously worked at Grantools Private Ltd. as Sales Engineer & Regional Sales Manager, Diatech India Ltd. as Overall Marketing in-charge for India; Trinity Marketing as Overall Marketing in-charge for India; Diacore Private Ltd. As Product Marketing Manager/ Regional Manager; since 2013 he was working at Bloc Stone Saw Private Ltd. as General Manager-Marketing & Operations.
He lives in Bangalore with his wife Leena and his two children, Irene Komal and Kenneth Oswin.
Mr. B. John Stephen joined the BSI in the year 2012 as Engineer BSI.
Mr. Stephen is incharge of the properties of the BSI spread across the country.
Prior to joining the BSI, he had worked with the Government of Andhra Pradesh (United) in the department of `Housing’ for 28 years in various capacities. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as Executive Engineer; heading the planning, designs and implementation of the major projects.
Mr. Stephen holds a Degree in Civil Engineering and Masters in Business Administration and also P.G. Diploma in Concrete Technology and Construction Management.
Dr.Hrangthan Chhungi gives the lead to the Church Relations and Resource Mobilisation Department.
Dr.Chhungi has vast experience and expertise in working with Churches and Church related ecumenical organization. Besides she has taught Old Testament for several years and helped train Church leaders across India. Dr.Chhungi is thrilled about her new role at the BSI “It’s my parents dream come true”, she says.
Dr.Chhungi has been involved in fund raising campaigns even while she was a child.
“I got involved in many activities of the BSI Aizawl Auxiliary and have sung in many of the finance campaigns for the Bible cause”, she reminiscences.
Dr.Chhungi hails from the state of Mizoram in the North Eastern part of India. She is passionate about taking the Scripture Engagement and Trauma Healing programme to various Churches across India. She is thankful to all the donors of the Bible Society of India across India. Her vision (in her own words) is to work closer with the Churches with a true spirit of ecumenism and help the Church to effectively engage with the Bible and use the digital to build digital communities that would support the Bible cause.
Dr.Chhungi is married to a Lutheran Pastor Rev.J.Jeremiah Andderson and is blessed with two daughters Joanne Thangi and Suzanne Sangi and a son Jehu Anderson.
Dr.Chhungi is a Writer, Speaker and Resource person on various contemporary issues. She has to her credit several articles published in various journals at National and International forums.
Mr. Caleb Martin Hilton has joined The Bible Society of India recently as the Associate Director of Media and Special Audience. Prior to BSI he has worked in the field of Media for over 25 years.
Mr. Caleb has his Master’s degree in Sociology from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, Bachelor of Divinity from Gurukul Lutheran Theological College & Research Institute, Chennai and Bachelor of Theology from Allahabad Bible Seminary, Uttar Pradesh. And Certificate in Videography from Santhome Communication Centre, Chennai.
Being a son of missionaries, he grew up in various mission fields in India with the strong desire to share God’s Word. He worked with various organizations including Operation Mobilization, Council on National Service, Sitara Music and Freedom Ministries, Operation Agape, Gift to the Nations where he was involved in recording and producing Audio Bibles in many tribal languages of India. He is a gifted singer and a musician and has sung in over 12 languages in many albums for organizations including Friends Missionary Prayer Band, Vishwavani, TWR, Blessing Youth Mission, FEBA, VBS and other Christian organizations and Church.
For the last eight years he served as a teaching faculty and HOD - Media and Communications at ACTS Academy of Higher Education, Bangalore. He lives in Bangalore with his wife Jeba Martin and his two children, Annie Lois Martina and Luke Joshah.
