Most Rev. Dr. P C. Singh, became the President of the BSI in January 2019. He is also the Bishop of the Jabalpur Diocese. He is a well-known Ecumenical leader. . He is the President of the National Council of Churches in India and also the President of the Christian Institute for the Study of Religion and Society (CISRS). He is also actively involved in the work and ministry of various Christian organisations around the country.
Most Rev. Dr. P.C. Singh has been involved in the Mission and Ministry of the Bible Society of India for more than 12 years and he takes keen interest in promoting the Bible cause.
Dr. Mrs. P. Leela Bose, wife of Rev. Dr. P.N.S. Chandra Bose, was elected as the Vice-President of the BSI in the Triennial Central Council which took place in January 2019. Dr. Mrs. Leela Bose is very actively involved in serving the Church and other outreach ministries focussing her vision of reaching the socially and economically backward communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all and educating the most needy. Mrs. Bose also serves as the Director of the Gospel Mission of India Educational Institutions and also the Principal of Joyce Meyer Junior College in Guntur. She also serves as the Director of the Gospel Mission of India Educational Institutions. . Apart from being the Vice-President, Mrs. Bose is also the Treasurer of the Bible Society of India, Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary and also the President of the Mary Jones Fellowship of the BSI.
She started a school for the slum children in Guntur in the year 1997 with only 60 children, which has now grown to a student strength of 700 children. In view this she has been awarded the title of Doctor of Divinity (Honoris Causa) in 2009 by the Academy of Ecumenical India Theology and Church Administration in recognition of her contribution to the transformation of slum dwellers through the Gospel, as well as through secular education.
In 2016 she was awarded the Mary Jones Prize in Philadelphia at the World Assembly of the United Bible Societies, for the significant contributions made by her to promote the Mary Jones Movement in India, particularly in the State of Andhra Pradesh, imparting the knowledge of the Word of God to women.
Dr. Mrs. Leela Bose and her husband Rev. Dr. P.N.S. Chandra Bose have been serving the BSI for 12 long years.
Rev. Premkumar Soans serves as the Treasurer of the Bible Society of India. He is from the Church of South India, Karnataka Southern Diocese. He has served as the Presbyter-in-Charge of various congregations for forty years in the Karnataka Southern Diocese. He has held various leadership positions in the CSI Synod such as the Convener of the Synod Theological Commission, Vice-President of the Diocese between 1994-2005; & 2007-2009, as well as the Treasurer of the Diocese between 2005-2007. Rev.Soans is connected to various Christian Ecumenical organizations.
Rev Dr. M Mani Chacko, is an ordained minister of the Church of South India and has served congregations in Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai, apart from serving as a Priest at the Parish of John Keble Church of the Church of England, London, U.K.
Dr. Chacko is an academician among theologians. After his theological studies at the United Theological College,Bangalore, he earned his PhD in Biblical Studies from King’s College, University of London under the mentorship of Professor Ronald E Clements. Prior to his assuming the Directorship of the Ecumenical Christian Centre, Whitefield, Bangalore in 2006, he served as Principal of the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai. He taught there for 16 long years from 1990 and was Professor and Head of the Department, Old Testament Studies before being appointed as Principal of the college. He also taught at Serampore College, prior to his doctoral studies.
As a Biblical scholar, he was a visiting Professor to several institutions including the Faculty of Theology, University of Oslo, Norway and the United Theological College, Paramatta, Sydney, Australia. Currently, he also serves a number of other organizations in an honorary capacity. To mention a few, he is presently a member of the Executive Board & the Association of St. Christopher’s College of Education, Chennai, Women’s Christian College, Chennai,Madras Christian College, Chennai and also Research Ethics Committee, Hindustan Unilever Limited, apart from beingan External Examiner for the University of Wales and of the University of Madras. He also served as a Chaplain of the Order of Sisters of the Church of South India.
Rev. Dr. Chacko has been published widely in several academic journals in India and abroad. He also has four books to his credit- LIBERATION AND SERVICE OF GOD; CONTEMPORARY REFLECTIONS ON THE FAITH OF OUR MOTHERS AND FATHERS, THORN TO CYPRESS AND BRIER TO MYRTLE. As an ecumenical thinker, he has addressed conferences and consultations in different forums in India and abroad.
Currently, Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko serves as the General Secretary of the Bible Society of India since August, 2011, the largest Bible Society among the 150 Bible Societies spread over 200 countries around the world and serves on several committees of the United Bible Societies.
