PEACE OF MIND

Right now many are anxious, restless and fearful. Not knowing what to do they try different means in search of peace. And often they find the peace that they are looking for, very elusive. The few who seek to find peace by various mental techniques are often disappointed. They may experience a little peace of mind but it does not last. A crisis often blows away the little peace they have obtained by this means.

More and more people are now seeking peace and often the peace they get is not the real peace which they yearn to have. One cannot have peace of mind unless one has something deeper than just peace of mind. When we have peace at the depth of our spirit then peace of mind is an outcome of that deeper peace. In other words, we cannot experience real peace unless it comes from God, our Creator. The Bible says the peace that comes from God lasts, and is different from the peace the world offers :

“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” (John 14: 27)

“Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe…” (Philipians 4:6-7a)

“You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you. Trust in the Lord for ever;” (Isaiah 26: 3-4a)

We cannot experience the peace of God until we have experienced peace with God. And we cannot have peace with God when we are burdened by guilt due to the wrongdoings in our lives. Now God has worked a way by which we can be put right with God and have peace with him.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing. If we say that we have not sinned, we make God out to be a liar, and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1: 8-10)

God offered him (Jesus Christ), so that by his death he should become the means by which people’s sins are forgiven through their faith in him. (Romans 3: 25)

Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. He has brought us by faith into this experience of God’s grace, in which we now live. And so we boast of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory. (Romans 5:1-2)

Lord Jesus invites all who are tired and depressed with worldly worries to come to him and experience the real peace.

“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.”
                                                                                                   (Matthew 11: 28-30)

God’s peace is beyond our understanding. It withstands the storms and trials of life. Since it is possible in this restless age to experience the real peace of God, let nothing prevent us from experiencing it.
