BIBLE SOCIETY OF INDIA - JABALPUR  AUXILIARY

.

HISTORY

The Bible Society's presence in Madhya Pradesh originally began as apart of U.P. Auxiliary's operations, in order to cater to the local requirements; a Bible Society's development office was functioning from Jabalpur. The Auxiliary came into full-fledged status in 1986.

PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS:

Though Hindi is the main language spoken in this area, the tribals who constitute 37% of the population speak 80 different languages and dialects like Gondi, Halbi, Bhili, Chattisgarhi, Korku and Nimari. Apart from the Hindi Bible, New Testament in Gondi language is available for this area.

In recognition of the need to reach out to the people who cannot read, audio Scriptures are being produced here too. Cassettes produced recently are: Yeshu hi Prabhu hai and Yeshu hi Muktidata. The youth and women wings are continually active in Bible Work. The auxiliary keeps up close relationship with the larger stream of the church.
